The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul – Robert Wyland
The ocean is filled with some of the most wonderful underwater species – in other words, the gems of the water. To showcase this mesmerizing life, Dubai mall harbors the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, which houses these aquatic treasures. It is so huge that even the popular show “Tanked” filmed an episode at this fabulous place!
Are you an adrenaline junkie or have you ever felt the need to put something exciting on your bucket list? Well, the Dubai Aquarium offers you various encounters to fulfill that wish!
- Shark Scooter – To get a closer look of the marine life in the aquarium, you can sit in a “self contained scooter like vehicle” and surf inside the water like a miniature submarine. Watch this experience on Youtube!
- Shark Feeding Encounter – Have you always wanted to feed sharks but were too afraid and were a non diver? You can still check off all this by diving into the aquarium in a special diving cage that allows you to see this from a few centimeters away! (P.S there is a special offer to capture these memories through a GoPro camera!!!!)
- Ray Feeding Encounter – Now this is something I personally encountered! It was very nerve wrecking at first but you soon get the hang of it. The divers take you in a shallow pool that submerges you in water till your thighs (well depending on how tall you are!) and you are given a box of squids for feeding time. This was the best experience I have ever had and honestly, the rays are just like puppies when it comes to feeding. In addition to avoid danger, the stings are gently removed from their tails.
Now this is for people who want to enjoy the marine life from a distance. However, it is as thrilling as the other experiences. You will be able to see schools of beautiful, colorful fish, many penguins, otters and wait for it….they also have KING CROC! Dubai Aquarium just introduced an addition (King Croc) to their family of marine life. It is one of the largest reptiles in protected environment today! The crocodile was moved from Queensland, Australia to Dubai and it weighs roughly 750 kgs with being 5 meters in length. Watch how they moved the King from Australia to Dubai!
If you want to catch a glimpse of this wonderful aquarium and zoo from far away, they have a set up a virtual tour of the whole experience allowing you to get an experience before you come here!
This is definitely must go place in Dubai and it should be included in your itinerary 🙂 To learn about their events, new offers, tickets and more detailed information about the experiences, click here.
